Introduction

Multi-level cooking lets you steam delicate foods in the Varoma®, cook grains in the simmering basket, and simmer sauces/soups in the mixing bowl; all at the same time. One appliance, dinner done.
What “multi-level” means (fast)
Four cooking levels working together: mixing bowl → simmering basket → Varoma dish → Varoma tray. Think: soup or curry below, rice in the basket, veg + fish or chicken on top.
Why it’s efficient: gentle steam preserves texture; juices drip down to flavour what’s underneath; and you plate a balanced meal in one go.
Capacity tip: a full Varoma can handle up to 8 portions of fish, meat, eggs, chicken or vegetables.
How to layer for success
Papillote concentrates flavour inside sealed parchment; lining the Varoma tray lets you capture delicious juices for sauces.
Smart tips (UK & Ireland)
Don’t block steam holes (cut parchment to fit).
Season from top to bottom: spice rubs on meat/fish, herby liquid in the bowl, salt the veg. Dripping juices add flavour to rice/veg.
Batch & stretch: steam extra veg in the Varoma and fold into soups or salads later.

Why multi-level helps healthy eating
You naturally plate protein + veg + whole carbs (e.g., salmon + broccoli + potatoes/brown rice) in a single workflow. Add herbs/lemon at the end; drizzle with good olive oil. For even more ideas, see Multi-level cooking: The Power of Steam.
FAQs (UK & Ireland)
Q: What can I cook at the same time?
A: Soups/sauces in the bowl, grains or potatoes in the basket, plus fish/meat and vegetables in the Varoma. Think “complete dinner” in one run.
Q: Won’t the top layer dry out?
A: No — steam keeps it moist. Use papillote for ultra-juicy results, or line the Varoma tray to catch juices for sauce.
Q: How many portions fit in the Varoma?
Up to 8 portions of fish, meat, eggs, chicken or vegetables (arranged to let steam flow).
