[HowTo - Part 3] Thermomix TM7 Safety Checklist & Setup Tips 🔒

👉Part 3 of the Thermomix TM7 Manual Series: Source Thermomix® TM7 User Manual.

A concise breakdown of the Safety section of the TM7 manual, helping UK cooks avoid shocks, burns and warranty-voiding mistakes.

Overview (Quick-View Table)

Area

#1 Risk

Golden Rule

Setup Location

Electric shock & fire

Keep TM7 dry, off hobs, on a flat surface with steam clearance.

High-Temp Cooking

Burns & scalds

Never exceed the 2.2 L mark; open lids away from you.

Food Hygiene

Bacterial growth

Wash all food-contact parts before first use; chill perishables fast.

Accessory Handling

Cuts & jams

Lock knife, insert tools correctly, use only genuine Thermomix parts.

Cleaning & Repairs

Shock & rust

Unplug before wiping base; dry contact pins fully; never DIY-repair.

1 Choose the Right Setup Spot

What to DO

  • Place on a clean, level, heat-proof counter, at least one hand-width from the edge.

  • Leave vertical clearance for the Varoma® so steam can rise freely.

  • Plug directly into a wall socket—no extension leads.

What to AVOID

  • Wet zones and outdoor patios.

  • Sitting TM7 on or next to hobs, toasters, kettles or induction rings.

  • Letting the power lead dangle where kids can tug it.

2 Handle High Temperatures Like a Pro

  1. Keep the lid cap on unless the Varoma® is fitted.

  2. Never lift a full, hot bowl off the base; empty first.

  3. Soups, jams & casseroles → ≤ 100 °C & speed 2 unlocked to prevent pressure bursts.

  4. Open the Varoma® and bowl lid away from your face; steam burns hurt!

  5. Pour oils only up to 100 ml in Browning Mode and add ingredients immediately to stop spitting.

3 Food-Safety Essentials

  • Wash all food-contact parts before first cook.

  • Stick to the UK cold-chain rule: refrigerate perishables within 2 hours (1 hour if > 30 °C ambient).

  • Spatula = bowl-only—don’t stir your frying pan with it (it will melt).

4 Accessory & Appliance Safety

Accessory

Must-Do

Never-Do

Mixing Knife

Lock lever fully before use.

Grab blades or disassemble a filled bowl.

Butterfly Whisk

Max speed 4, ≤ 100 °C.

Run Pre-clean with whisk fitted.

Simmering Basket

Lift with spatula hook.

Fill above 1.4 L or 350 g rice.

Magnets in Lid

Warn users with pacemakers.

Store lids near magnetic-sensitive devices.

5 Care & Maintenance Checklist

  • Unplug before wiping the base; use a damp cloth only.

  • Dry contact pins thoroughly to prevent hidden rust.

  • Avoid scourers, bleach, benzene or acetone on any TM7 part.

  • Inspect lid seal, power cord and knife after every big cook; replace if cracked or frayed.

  • If dropped or damaged, send to Vorwerk UK service—DIY fixes void warranty and risk shock.
